Funeral Mass Wednesday for Judith K. (Sweeney) McKie, 72

Judith "Judy" K. (Sweeney) McKie, 72, of Franklin died Jan. 17, 2014 in Milford Regional Medical Center. She was the partner of Barbara Kelly of Franklin.

Judith “Judy” K. (Sweeney) McKie, 72, of Franklin died Jan. 17, 2014 in Milford Regional Medical Center. She was the partner of Barbara Kelly of Franklin.

Born in Boston in 1941 and the daughter of the late William J. and Virginia (Adler) Sweeney, she  had formerly lived in Framingham and Newton.

McKie enjoyed a career helping people, graduating with a degree in nursing from Lawrence Memorial, working in pediatrics, convalescence, hospice, care management and the Red Cross. Inspired to assist those in need, Judy founded Exceptionally Yours a company specializing in clothing for those with disabilities.

In addition to her partner,  she is survived by her children; Maura Rubin of Northboro, Robert O. McKie and his wife Elsa of Franklin, Kathleen Vuono of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Jennifer Hurley and her husband Jim of Franklin , Julie Vincenzino of Hopkinton and Kristin Farese and her husband Eugene of Needham.

She was the mother of the late Tricia McKie.

She is also survived by her precious grandchildren; Christopher Diaz and his wife Meghan, Amanda Vincenzino, Trevor Vuono, Patrick Hurley, Jason McKie, Domenic Vincenzino, Marisa Vincenzino, Michael McKie, Stephen Sweeney, Kathryn Hurley, Drew Rubin, Elyssa Rubin, Emma Vuono, Janelle McKie, Alanna McKie, Eugene Farese and Isabella Farese.

She is also survived by her siblings, William Sweeney and his wife Leslie of Mattapoisett, Paul Sweeney and his wife Kathe of Hampton, New Hampshire, Mark Sweeney and his wife Annette of Mattapoisett, Peggy Snyder of Norfolk, Virginia, David Sweeney and his wife Carol of Bolton and Susie Stalnaker and her husband Chuck of Salem, Oregon.

A special thank you to Dr. Jennifer Lee and her staff at Brigham & Women’s for the compassionate care they provided over the years.

Calling hours will be on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin, on Main Street.

Her funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday Jan. 22 at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady Help of Christian’s Church,  573 Washington St. in Newton. Burial will be in Newton Cemetery.
