Funeral Saturday for Navy Veteran Richard E. Tolan, 65

Tolan served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War aboard the USS Ranger.

Richard Edward Tolan, age 65, a longtime resident of Framingham, died Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at the UMASS Medical Center in Worcester.

Born and raised in Newton, he was the son of Claire L. (York) Tolan of Framingham and the late Richard C. Tolan. He was the former husband of Cheryl (Tognacci) Tolan.

Tolan served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War aboard the USS Ranger.

He worked as a carpenter in the Metrowest area and also had worked for General Motors Co.

In addition to his mother Claire, he is survived by his sons, Richard E. Tolan Jr. and David Tolan and his wife Maureen all of Framingham. He is also survived by his step-mother Cecilia Tolan and his siblings, Kathleen and her husband Donald Michaud of Guilderland, NY, Deborah and her husband Les Clark of Wareham, William Tolan and his wife Charlene of Framingham, Nancy and her husband David Yeager of Framingham, and Jeffrey Tolan and his wife Jillene of Ashland, many nieces and nephews and his girlfriend Maryanne Audette.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral Mass on Saturday, Nov. 16 at 9:30 a.m. in St. Tarcisius Church in Framingham. Burial will follow in the family lot in St. Tarcisius Cemetery, Framingham.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in his memory may be made to the St. Tarcisius Church Food Bank, 563 Waverly St. Framingham, MA 01702.
