Funeral Thursday for Retired Framingham Deputy Fire Chief
Framingham Deputy Fire Chief Albert L. Ordway Jr., 59, died on Dec. 27, 2013 at his home in Natick after a two year battle with cancer.
Framingham Patch posted the first report of his death on Saturday.
Ordway was born in Natick, the son of Jeanne C (Magee) Ordway of Natick and late Albert L. Ordway, Sr. (Natick Fire Dept.) who died Dec. 31, 2012.
Ordway was a lifelong resident of Natick. He attended Saint Patrick’s Elementary School, and graduated from Natick High School, Class of 1972. He obtained degrees in Fire Science and Fire Technology from Mass Bay Community College in 1982 and Anna Maria College in 2002.

As Deputy Chief he served as the Department’s Administrative Officer, Emergency Management Director and Training Officer for several years. He finished his last 11 years supervising fire ground operations, the part of the job he enjoyed the most.

He also served as Framingham’s Civil Defense Director from 1993 – 2000.
He was a member of the Natick Elks for his entire adult life.
In addition to his mother he is survived by a daughter Kathryn Ordway Beaudry and her husband Michael of Waltham, one son Albert L Ordway III of Beverly, many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Ordway also leaves two former wives, Valerie (Olsen) Collins of Arizona and Deborah (Lees) Martin of Detroit, Michigan.
Visiting hours are Wednesday Jan. 1, from 2 to 5 p.m.
Burial is private.
