Services Monday for Former Framingham North Teacher Robert Dunne

Robert Dunne served in the U.S. Coast Guard during the Korean Conflict.

Robert E. Dunne, 82, of Grafton, passed away Nov. 19, 2013 after a brief illness.

His wife of 43 years, Kathleen M. (Murphy) Dunne passed away in 2003.

He is survived by his sons Robert E. Dunne and his wife JoAnne, Michael J. Dunne, daughter-in-law Judy Dunne, Stephen R. Dunne and his wife Tracie and John W. Dunne and his wife Pamela. He also leaves 9 grandchildren, and his brother William R. Dunne and several nieces and nephews. His brothers James E. and John J. Dunne and sister Helen E. Dunne predeceased him. Bob was born January 25, 1931 in Worcester, son of the late Helen A. (Rourke) and John J. Dunne.

He grew up in the Grafton Hill section of Worcester, graduating from St. John's High School in 1949.

He served in the U.S. Coast Guard during the Korean Conflict, joining in 1953.

Following his military service he continued his education graduating from Worcester State College in 1959 having served as his class President. He then began his 35 year teaching career in upstate New York and earned his Master's Degree from SUNY at Albany in 1963. He and his wife Kathleen relocated to Grafton and raised their family there.

Dunne did his Post Graduate work at Framingham State College and then taught at Framingham North High School for 25 years, teaching history, social studies, law and psychology.

He was an active member of the Shrewsbury Knights of Columbus Council #4181. He could often be found on the golf course, playing cards or bocce. Those who knew him will remember a true family man that treasured the gift of time spent with his wife, children and grandchildren.

All are invited to calling hours for Dunne Sunday Nov. 24 from 3 to 6 p.m. at Roney Funeral Home 152 Worcester St. N. Grafton MA 01536.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday Nov. 25 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Church 17 Waterville St. N. Grafton MA 01536. He will then be laid to rest at Fairview Cemetery in Grafton.
