Former Franklin Pierce soccer player Gabriela Demoner, a four-time All-American for the Ravens from 2006-09, is a member of the Brazilian team. Demoner, from Vitoria, Brazil, posted 32 goals and eight assists her senior year at FPU. She was poised to be a part of Brazil’s 2011 World Cup team before suffering an injury, reported the Keene Sentinel.

Demoner and Brazil will face the United States and Japan in the upcoming Challenge Cup.

The request to play at Bowditch Field came from the vice president of business development Craig Tornberg of the New England Revolution and Geraldo Magela of New Creation Sporting Group, said Robert Merusi in an email.

Admission is free; but "because of the informal and last minute developments of this event, we do not have any details as to whether there will be time for autographs, etc," said Merusi in an email. "We can tell you ... the general public will have a chance to view one of the most highly ranked Women’s World Cup Team scrimmage at Bowditch Field."

3. Framingham Patch looks different today. We did a quick visual nip-and-tuck to the homepage to make it even more user-friendly. And we've moved a couple things. We tweaked some words in our navigation bar to save space (e.g., "Traffic & Gas" is now "Commute") We moved, well, YOU closer to the top! (Our "shout stream" is now front and center to show all your comments off.) While the site might look a little different today, we still offer the same robust coverage of everything happening in Framingham. That was, is, and will always be our mission. We hope you'll let us know what you think of our tweaks - drop me an email at susan.petroni@patch.com or post a comment below!
