Potter Road gets in the spirit of the season as 5th grade teacher Jeff Weinstein greets students arriving to school with his original song Cucurbita Maxima (The Pumpkin Song).

For two weeks leading into Potter Roads annual pumpkin fair, the school holds a penny war style fundraiser where students “vote” to elect that years Potter Road Pumpkin. The elected pumpkin wears the schools pumpkin costume on Halloween.
This year students elected 5th grade teacher Jeff Weinstein who made a promise to his students that he would wear green tights and write them a song if they could “figure out how to win”. Students in his class as well as others rallied and used their critical thinking skills to come up with a winning strategy to secure the win. Their success was rewarded this morning upon their arrival to school.
