Amber Alert Cancelled: McCarthy Elementary Teacher's Niece Found Safe

Rhode Island Police are seeking your help in finding a missing 13-year-old Portsmouth girl.

Rhode Island Police said they have  found a 13-year-old girl reported missing from her home in Portsmouth, R.I.

A Portsmouth Police spokesman said early Thursday morning that the girl was found alive and that an Amber Alert issued for her has been canceled, reported the AP.

Rhode Island police are seeking the public's help in locating a 13-year-old Portsmouth girl. 

A CodeRed alert about the missing girl was issued Wednesday just before 11:30 a.m. 

According to the Amber Alert, she was last seen leaving 59 Ferry Landing Circle with a man unknown to the family on Wednesday morning. 

Kathryn Botelho, 13, is the niece of McCarthy Elementary School fourth grade teacher Cheryl Botelho.

She is a white girl, 4'11" tall and 110 lbs., with blonde hair and blue eyes. She was last seen wearing a black skirt and a blue sapphire Alex and Ani bracelet. 

She is possibly accompanying a white man, 40 to 50-years-old, according to police. They might be traveling in a red Chrysler Sebring, four-door vehicle, with an unknown registration number and possible New Jersey license plates. 

Anyone with information or who sees the girl is asked to call Portsmouth police at 401-683-0300, 911 or Rhode Island State Police at 401-462-6237.
