Bomb Squad Detonates Suspicious Items in Framingham

The State Police bomb squad detonated some items, some of which may have been stored since World War II.

The Massachusetts State Police Bomb Squad on Thursday morning detonated some "unknown" items a junk removal company flagged as suspicious.

According to Framingham Police Lt. Ron Brandolini, emergency officials were called to the recycling plant, 36 Fountain St., at about 10 a.m., for a hazardous liquids call. An employee of a junk removal company told officials he had just cleaned out a storage unit in Milford, which contained numerous items, including some from World War II.

The employee told police there was a green ammunition container that contained liquid and powder materials, according to Brandolini. Police requested the bomb squad, which determined they should be destroyed by detonation.

The bomb squad detonated the items at the DPW yard. It is unknown what the items were, police said.
