A Town of Framingham employee was arrested in his hospital bed at UMass Memorial in Worcester today, March 18, following a crash on Pleasant Street Monday night.

Framingham Police arrested Peter J. Curtis, 32, of 9 Heritage Dr. of Medway at 2 p.m. Tuesday, said Framingham Police Lt. Frank Divittorio.

Curtis was charged with two counts of assault with intent to kill, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, and two counts of reckless endangerment of a child.

In the vehicle with Curtis was two youths, ages 11 and 15, who were related to him, confirmed Lt. Divittorio.

Both youths were transported to MetroWest Medical Center in Framingham for treatment. They both were wearing seatbelts, at the time of the crash.

One youth, unknown if it is the male or female youth, was transferred to Tufts Medical in Boston and is in critical condition.

Curtis is to be arraigned in court on Wednesday, March 19, said the Police Lt.

Just after 7:15 p.m. Monday, March 17 Framingham Police and Fire were called to the intersection of Pleasant Street and Arnold Road.

The road was closed for almost an hour.

According to witnesses and those on the scene, Curtis was driving a vehicle with the two youths in the car. Travelling eastbound on Pleasant Street the car ended up crashed into a utility pole on the westbound side of the busy road.

The force of the impact popped open the electrical box on the utility pole, and the sidewalk was cracked, said a woman who came upon the crash afterwards and was tending to the two youths before EMTs could take them to the hospital.

The driver, according to those on the scene,  was trapped in the car, which was leaking gasoline.

The driver's head hit the windshield upon impact and he was bleeding from his head. Curtis was later transported to UMass Memorial Hospital in Worcester for treatment.
