Framingham Firefighters Union Presents Medals of Honor to 3 Families

Friday morning, the Framingham firefighters union honored the late firefighters Francis X. Tibbert, Lt. Angelo Moro and Deputy Chief Anthony Resteghini with medals of honor, in a ceremony at the Memorial Building.

In September, the names of names of Resteghini and former Framingham Fire Deputy Chief Albert Ordway, who passed away in December, will be etched into the International Association of Firefighters (IAFF) Memorial Wall in Colorado.

"Their memories are never forgotten," said Framingham Firefighters IAFF Local 1652 Union President Joseph Fonseca.

"Word can not make up for your losses," Fonseca told the Tibbert, Moro and Resteghini families in the audience.

Fonseca said cardiac disorders and the epidemic of rising cancers in the fire service are "residual hazards we face in this business." He said he was happy to learn that the IAFF now recognizes these firefighters, as well as those who die in the line of duty.

Moro started his career with the Framingham Fire Department on Nov. 6, 1955. His last day was Feb. 19, 1978. He died in 1978.
