Framingham Woman Arraigned in Fatal Ambulance Crash

Milford Police say a Mercedes Benz driven by Lisa Zemack, 61, of Framingham ran a stop sign and struck an ambulance, killing the patient inside.

A Framingham woman plead not guilty to charges of motor vehicle homicide by negligent operation, stemming from a Milford crash, in which police believe she ran a stop sign and struck an ambulance killing an Upton woman, who was a patient in the ambulance.

Lisa Zemack, 61, Bonvini Dr., of Framingham was arraignment last Thursday; and was released with no bail. As part of her release, she was ordered not to drive, according to a spokesperson for the Worcester County District Attorney's office.

Police say a Mercedes Benz driven by Zemack struck the ambulance in Milford on Jan. 21.

The patient, Karen Scott, 58, of Upton, lying in a stretcher, went into cardiac arrest and died. She was returning to a nursing center after receiving dialysis. Scott, a resident of Upton for 25 years, had worked as a certified nursing assistant and was a grandmother and mother of two, according to an obituary.

According to Milford Police, Zemack was driving a Mercedes sedan and failed to stop at a stop sign on Green Street, where it meets Rte. 140. The ambulance was heading north on Route 140, in the direction of Milford Regional Medical Center. The impact forced the ambulance into a rollover. It came to rest on a guard rail.
