UPDATED: Framingham Woman Killed in Crash Caused by Fallen Mattress on Route 128

Massachusetts State Police are looking for a white dump truck believed to have been carrying the mattress, that caused the fatal crash on Route 128 Tuesday.

A Framingham woman, 56, injured in a crash on Route 128/95 on the Burlington and Lexington line on Tuesday has died, the Massachusetts State Police stated in a release Tuesday night. 

Troopers from the Massachusetts State Police Barracks in Concord and Danvers responded to a two vehicle crash on I-95 South in the vicinity of Exit 32 in Burlington, near the Lexington line that resulted in a single fatality about 3 p.m. on Tuesday.

The victim, a 56 year old female from Framingham, was transported to Lahey Clinic, where she succumbed to her injuries. She went into cardiac arrest at the scene. Her identify is not being released, pending notification of next of kin.   

Reports have the Framingham woman trying to avoid the mattress in the middle of the highway was then struck from behind by a red pickup truck.

The State Police are attempting to locate the vehicle which lost the mattress. According to police, it is described as a large dump truck with a white cab and possibly black netting or a tarp partially covering the bed. The bed is reported to be dark in color, with wood along the sides.  

At the time of the crash, it was reported to be occupied by two males and carrying multiple additional mattresses.

"The facts and circumstances remain under investigation with the assistance of troopers from the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, Crime Scene Services Section and troopers assigned to the Middlesex County District Attorney's Office, but initial indications are that a mattress fell from another vehicle, causing the crash," State Police said in the release.
