Framingham police evacuated Mass Bay Community College, due to a bomb threat Tuesday afternoon.

A Massachusetts State Police bomb squad member searched the former Farley school on Flagg Drive, with a dog and is now out of the building, reported fire officials. Framingham Police confirmed at 5 p.m. no device was found.

A fire official said a bomb threat was only at the Framingham campus, this afternoon. Wellesley and Ashland campuses evacuated just as a precaution, as state police's bomb squad was already on Wellesley/Dover line for a suspicious package found in Dover earlier Tuesday afternoon, he said.

"In the early hours this morning, a MassBay security officer found a written bomb threat in a men’s bathroom on the Wellesley Hills campus," said Jeremy Solomon, associate vice president for marketing and college spokesman.

Wellesley Police Department came to campus and investigated, finding no threat, and gave an all clear, said Solomon in a statement after 5 p.m.

"At approximately 2:45 p.m. today another written bomb threat was found on the Framingham campus.  As a precaution all three campuses were evacuated, and day and evening classes and activities were cancelled," said Solomon.
"Emergency responders came to the Wellesley Hills and Framingham campuses and conducted a search.  In both instances no threats were found, and an all clear was given by the respective local authorities."

Framingham Deputy Police Chief Ron Brandolini told Framingham Patch just before 3:30 p.m. said another note was left in the bathroom about a bomb on the Framingham campus.

Note said "bomb was in school and going to blow up," said Brandolini.

Jeremy Solomon, associate vice president for marketing and college spokesman, told Wellesley Patch they are investigating these threats and there are emergency responders on all Mass Bay campuses. Threats were made but not to any specific campus, he said. He added that school and public safety officials are doing all they can to ensure the campus is safe.

"There were threats made that we took very seriously, but they were not made to any specific campus, "Solomon said. "There is no reason to think that there will be any further threats. There are no injuries and we don't predict any injuries."

A press conference is expected to be held at 5 p.m. on the Framingham campus.

Massachusetts State Police bomb squad is in route. Framingham police and fire are standing by the scene, said Brandolini.

MassBay is closed for the rest of the day and evening. All classes & activities are cancelled at all three campuses, as police have received bomb threats in Framingham, Ashland and Wellesley.

MassBay Community College in Framingham is located across the street from McCarthy Elementary School and next door to Fuller Middle School on Flagg Drive. While both schools were closed for the day when the threat was made, there are after school programs.

McCarthy Elementary School Principal Matthew Hanlon told Framingham Patch Framingham Police advised the two schools they did not need to evacuate.

Framingham Patch will update as details become available.
