The state fire marshal and the Framingham Fire Department ask that as you shovel out from the the snowstorm, to please dig out the fire hydrant near your home, too.

In January 2011, a Framingham family's house caught on fire and was destroyed because when the Framingham Fire Department arrived DPW and firefighters had to dig out the hydrant before fighting the blaze.

The Framingham Fire Department has roughly 2,200 hydrants in town, and while the fire department does go around and shovel out hydrants, do you want to chance that they have not reached yours if a fire happens?
