Police and Fire Vigil Honors Victims of 9/11 [VIDEO]

Framingham Police and Fire honored the victims of Sept. 11 with a vigil Sunday morning. The service began at 7:58 a.m. when the first plane took off from Logan and ended at 10:28 a.m., when the north tower collapsed.

The vigil began at 7:58 a.m., the time the first plane took off from Logan Airport. The color and honor guards will take 20-minute shifts standing vigil until 10:28 a.m., the time when the second tower of the World Trade Center fell. 

At critical points, the Fire and Police color guards marked the events of Sept. 11: the times the twin towers were hit, the time the third plane hit the Pentagon, and the time the fourth plane went down in Pennsylvania. They lit vigil candles on replicas of the World Trade Center towers, laid wreaths and, at the end of the vigil – at the times the towers fell – extinguished the candles
