President Obama Says He Lived with Uncle

The White House had previously said the president had never met his uncle.

President Obama on Thursday reversed himself and said he had previously lived with his uncle, Onyango Obama, who was busted for driving under the influence of alcohol in Framingham in 2011, according to WBZ-TV.

The statement is a reversal of the White House previously saying he had never met his uncle. It comes a day after Onyango Obama said the president had lived with him for a brief period in the 1980s, according to WBZ-TV.

On Thursday, Onyango Obama, who has been granted a green card to remain in the United States, the White House said in fact the president had briefly lived with his uncle in Cambridge when he was attending Harvard Law School, according to WBZ-TV.

Onyango Obama was arrested in Framingham in 2011 on charges that he was driving under the influence of alcohol. In March 2012, he admitted to facts sufficient for a guilty finding. Prior to the arrest, he had been living in the country illegally.
