UPDATED: 20-Year-Old Motorcyclist Injured on Route 9
The victim was flown to the UMass Medical Center in Worcester.
A motorcyclist was injured late Saturday night when he was thrown over the guardrail and struck by a vehicle on Route 9.
The victim, a 20-year-old-male, was riding west on Route 9, but was struck by a vehicle on Route 9 east, Framingham Fire Capt. Mark Leporati said Sunday morning.
Police are investigating the cause of the 11:31 p.m. crash, including why the motorcyclist was thrown from his vehicle, Leporati said.
A medical helicopter flew the victim to the UMass Medical Center in Worcester, he said.
The fire department is not identifying the victim.
A motorist who said he called 911 said the motorcyclist was behind him in the right lane on Route 9, at the Stop & Shop.
The motorist, who identified himself as Ted, said the victim then passed him.
Traffic then entered the sharp curve.
"When I saw him go into it, he went into it way too fast," said Ted, who said he rides motorcycles.
Route 9 West at Temple Street was shut down after the accident.
