UPDATED: Stove Fire at Jefferson Hill Apartments Caused $70,000 in Damage

The only apartment damaged was the one with the kitchen fire, said the Framingham Fire Department.

UPDATED 11 p.m.: A husband and wife were displaced from their apartment, following an "accidental" kitchen fire, said Framingham Deputy Fire Chief Tom Barbieri.

The fire, at 1630 Worcester Rd., in an apartment complex off Route 9, was confined to one apartment, said the deputy chief.

The only apartment damaged was the one with the fire, said the deputy chief. The smoke detectors and the sprinkler system worked in the apartment.

The fire department estimated damage at $70,000.

A stove fire, in a third floor apartment, at 1630 Worcester Road has extended into the structure, so a second alarm has been called, according to scanner reports.

Framingham Fire has been on the scene at the Jefferson Hill Apartments, since just about 7 p.m.

The fire started on the stove, and extended above the cabinets, according to reports. The fire was contained to the kitchen, according to reports.

Framingham Fire, at first, had trouble getting an attack line in, according to scanner chatter. Platform and Engine 3 were on the scene.
