UPDATED: Man Hole Fire Shut Down Downtown Framingham Rotary Thursday

Union Avenue, near the Memorial Building, was shut down just after 2:15 p.m. today.

Union Avenue, near the Memorial Building, was shut down just after 2:15 p.m. today, July 10.

The road was still closed as of 3:45 p.m., according to Framingham DPW, and was expected to be closed through the evening commute. Police and DPW were awaiting NSTAR to make repairs to re-open the road.

The cause was a manhole fire. There were no injuries. The incident happened at 2:18 p.m. on Thursday, July 10.

The rotary near the Memorial Building in downtown Framingham was closed, due to the incident. 

If traveling south on Union Avenue, you will be detoured to Proctor, down Franklin Street to Howard Street.

If you wish to travel north, you will take Concord Street to Lincoln Streetm pass MetroWest Medical Center and enter back out on to Union Avenue by Marian High School.

Repairs were completed late Thursday.
