1. MetroWest YMCA will hold its annual auction tonight from 6 to 9 at The Verve in Natick. Proceeds from the auction will go directly to supporting affordable access to the YMCA for children, individuals and families in need. Admission $35 per person. Email email@example.com to purchase a ticket.
2. Senator Karen Spilka, who represents Framingham, will visit the Shillman House, owned and and managed by Jewish Community Housing for the Elderly. The Nobscot building, which opened in June 2011, is home to 175 older adults. It is a mixed-income development, offering both subsidized apartments as well as units available at affordable market rate. On the tour, Spilka will meet with residents and be given the tour by JCHE President and CEO Amy Schectman. She will also see the well-utilized community space including the bistro, dining room, fitness center, art studio, library, media center and beauty salon.
3.The Christa McAuliffe Regional Public Charter School will hold an an hour-long informational session for parents tonight at 6:30. The public charter school, located in Framingham, is free for students entering grades 6, 7 and 8, but admission is via a lottery. It is the only level one middle school in Framingham. Learn about school's Expeditionary Learning program from the admissions team and the Executive Director. Parents may bring their child, however the event is more geared to an adult audience. Space is limited, please visit the school's website to RSVP. This year, the 10-year old charter school, accepted its largest sixth grade class ever with more than 125 students. There were more than 210 applicants.
4. The main Framingham Library will hold a free screening of the classic movie Singin' in the Rain tonight at 7. Claudia Springer, an English and film studies professor at Framingham State University, will introduce each film and lead a discussion following the screening. Refreshments will be provided.
5. Jack's Abby Brewing is hosting a tour and tasting at its facility on Dec. 1. from 7 to 9 p.m. to benefit the Framingham Public Library Foundation. Tickets are $30 and are available at the main Framingham Library, the McAuliffe Library branch and at Jack's Abby Brewing the night of the event. No credit cards.
