8 Things You May Have Missed from This Week's Selectmen's Meeting

Among the quick agenda items this week were extended Black Friday hours for Toys "R" Us, Target and Wal-Mart.

Despite the absence of Chair Jason Smith, the Board of Selectmen breezed through their agenda items at Tuesday’s meeting. Here are eight things you may have missed:

1) , , and were all granted waivers to open for extended Black Friday hours. Requests were unanimously approved for Toys "R" Us and Target to open at 1 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 25. Wal-Mart will open at 4 a.m. on Nov. 25. All three stores will have police or private security details during extended Black Friday hours.  Approval was also granted for Toys "R" Us to be open 24 hours a day from Dec. 20 to Dec. 24.

2) Selectmen revisited the issue after receiving new information about the chapel’s historical status. Selectman Laurie Lee reported she received a phone call about it from town historial Fred Wallace of the , and said he should be involved in chapel discussions. Selectman Ginger Esty said the building is not only on the Framingham register of historic sites, but also on the state register.

3) Land transactions connected with DPW projects were unanimously approved. There will be a partial release of easement at 31 New York Ave. Selectmen signed a deed for to purchase the Paramount Pump Station parcel off New York Ave. Selectmen also approved purchase of temporary and permanent easements from NSTAR off Speen St., as well as taking of easements in the same area from Lynch and Generazio and an unknown owner. Selectmen also amended a 1990 easement with MassDOT on the Vaillencourt Pump Station Elimination Project.

4) An Open Space Deed at 618 Grove St. was unanimously approved. The deed allows Frank and Barbara Wilson a special permit to retain 3.7 acres for a private residence, while preserving the remainder of the nearly 10-acre property for conservation. “It’s a great gift to the town,” said Lee.

5) Approval was granted for several Traffic & Roadway Safety Committee Recommendations on parking. Howard St. will now have 3-hour parking on both sides of the street from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday- Friday. Dennison Ave. will also have parking on both sides in the section adjoining Concord St. Maynard Rd. will no longer have on-street parking.

6) Approval was granted for the Framingham Garden Club to place signs for their Green Sale at three town-owned intersections from November 18 to December 4. The intersections are Central and Kellogg Streets, Concord St. and Old Connecticut Path, and Fountain St. and Dudley Rd.

7) A Common Victualer’s License transfer was unanimously approved for restaurant at 5 Edgell Rd. The new owners have operated another Subway location in Hopkinton for 6 years.

8) A second hand license was unanimously granted to Gold Refinery at 538 Waverly St. The Framingham shop will be the fourth Gold Refinery location.
