Air Conditioning at Main Framingham Library Needs Fixed

Half of the compressors are not working and repairs are not expected to take place this weekend.

The main Framingham Library has very limited air conditioning today, and it is not expected to be fixed over the long holiday weekend.

Three of the six compressors at the library are not working, said Assistant Library Director Jane Peck.

She said there is air conditioning in the Costin room and some air conditioning on the children's level.

The cost to repair the compressors is estimated at $70,000 to $90,000 said Peck.

She said she did not have a time frame for when repairs would be completed.

"We have fans going, the lights off and the windows open," said Peck "But the main floor and the reference floor are warm."

Framingham Building Services has been working on getting estimates and we hope to have the AC issue resolved as soon as possible, said Peck.

The main Framingham Library and the McAuliffe branch will close early today, July 3, for the holiday weekend at 5:30 p.m. The libraries will not re-open until Monday, July 7. The air conditioning is not expected to be repaired by Monday.
