Bose, Samba & Trader Joe's To Be Recognized By Framingham Selectmen, Health Board

"Trader Joe's, Samba Restaurant and Bose Corp. were cooperative and acted totally responsibly in very trying times," said Framingham Board of Health Chair Michael Hugo.

The Framingham Board of Selectmen and Framingham Board of Health will recognize three local businesses Tuesday, March 4.

Samba Steak & Sushi, Trader Jor's and Bose Corporation are being recognized for their cooperation and collaboration in responding to alerts issued last month after the Massachusetts Department of Health confirmed two cases of Measles in Framingham.

Framingham officials have praised Trader Joe’s and Samba restaurant for its diligence during the health alerts and their swift response to ensuring the safety of our residents, consumers and business community.

“Both of these Framingham businesses have cooperated fully with the Framingham Board of Health and were incredibly helpful despite the obvious
detrimental impacts on their businesses," said Framingham Selectmen Chair Dennis Giombetti. "It is important for patrons to know that there is currently no risk of exposure at either of these businesses and we would encourage the public to frequent these establishments.”

Last week, the Framingham Health Department was notified by the state of a confirmed case of measles.

As a result of state notification, a case investigation of places frequented by the individual was conducted.

As part of its  investigation the Framingham Health Department provided community health notices and vaccination clinics at Trader Joes, 659 Worcester Rd. and Samba Steak & Sushi 1138 Worcester Rd., as a preventative measure.

“We would like to take this opportunity to thank the management of Trader Joe’s and Samba’s Restaurant for their cooperation regarding the investigation of the recent measles cases at their respective establishments," said Framingham Health Director Steven Ward. “The Town would like to encourage the public to continue to patronize both establishments.”

The Massachusetts Department of Public Health confirmed a second case of Measles in an employee at Bose Corporation.

Bose quickly notified any exposed employees and took the appropriate steps to ensure the employees’ vaccination. Bose Corporation also worked closely with Framingham’s Health Department during the alert period.

“The Board of Health is proud of the decisive and selfless actions shown by our businesses this past week, as they did everything in their power
to assist our Town with eliminating the risk of the spread of measles to their staff, customers and the residents of Framingham. Trader Joe's, Samba Restaurant and Bose Corp. were cooperative and acted totally responsibly in very trying times," said Framingham Board of Health Chair Michael Hugo.

All three businesses will be recognized on Tuesday, March 4 at 7 p.m. at the Framingham Selectmen's meeting in the Memorial Building.
