Brown Questions Markey's Malden Residency

Boston.com is reporting an early salvo has been fired in what could be the Senate special election showdown.

In a radio interview Wednesday morning, U.S. Sen. Scott Brown (R-MA) jabbed at Democratic Congressman Edward Markey about his residency in Malden, according to a Boston.com report.

Brown questioned if Markey still lives in Massachusetts anymore and also told WTKK-FM he often sees members of the Bay State congressional delegation on planes trips home but said "I have never seen Ed on the airplane—ever," according to the report.

This salvo from Brown could be a preview of a possible showdown with Markey over the Senate seat expected to be vacated by John Kerry if he is confirmed as the next U.S. Secretary of State. Boston.com reports Brown has "hinted" he could run for the seat while Markey said he would run if Kerry's confirmation is successful.

Markey has a regional office in Framingham, which is part of his congressional district.

Ed Markey is the Ranking Member of the Natural Resources Committee. He has served on the Committee since his election to the House of Representatives in 1976. Now Scott Brown alledges that Markey is not a resident of MA? He was just re elected in Nov. This is a baseless allegation. Brown is grasping.

Herb its ok....since Republcians do not and can not talk about issues and grown up solutions.....and bring up only baseless allegations and non issue items that will not put a spot light on THEIR inability to govern.........its ok....it will only get more Democratic and independent voters out to vote for Markey or who ever the Democratic candidate is......Brown is not only grasping....his ballons have no air..He and the GOP are useless.....they need to get out of the way...so America can fix their mess.

After the last campaign, how ANYONE could even SUGGEST Scott Brown should be back in DC is AMAZING (and somewhat alarming). Didn't anyone pay attention? He lied, deflected and attacked, but never explained or even commented on his voting record, except to say that he worked with the Democrats more than any other Republican, which we all now KNOW is MULARKY. As for Rep. Markey, does he even know where Framingham IS? I have never seen him around here. Even if I somehow missed him, he couldn't have been around more than, say, once a year, if that. Mike Capuano showed himself to be a prepared, knowledgable and viable candidate when he ran against Martha Coakley the last time. However, like Markey, SHE was picked by the Democratic "Elite" of Massachusetts, and tried to be coronated before the election. Sound familiar? Let's not make the same mistakes again, shall we???
