Framingham Accepts First of 5 Checks for New McAuliffe Library Branch

A small ceremony was held at the main Framingham Library to formally accept the first of five checks from the state to build a new Christa McAuliffe Library branch.

A small ceremony was held this morning, July 22 at the main Framingham Library to formally accept the first of five checks from the state to build a new Christa McAuliffe Library branch in the Nobscot section of Framingham.

In October 2012, the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners awarded a $4.186 million grant to the Framingham Library Trustees to construct a new $8.6 million library branch.

In attendance was three of the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners, as well as Framingham's entire legislative delegation - Sen. Karen Spilka, Rep. Chris Walsh, Rep. Tom Sannicandro and Rep. Tom Conroy.

Also in attendance was Town Manager Bob Halpin, Selectmen Chair Dennis Giombetti, Selectman Mike Bower, Moderator Terri Banerjee and Framingham Library Trustees Sam Klaidman, Liz Fideler and Chris Walsh.
