Framingham Employees Give $5,000 to the United Way of Tri-County

Town of Framingham employees together with Town Manager Bob Halpin, and with an anonymous donor from the Framingham Fire Department, raised $5,000 to make a difference in the lives of families in need in Framingham.

Town Manager Robert Halpin and a group of Town of Framingham employees visited the Pearl Street Cupboard and Café in Framingham Friday, Dec. 20 to present the United Way with a donation on behalf of employees from the Town of Framingham. Also there to support this endeavor were Selectmen Chair Dennis Giombetti and State Rep. Chris Walsh.

Earlier this month, Halpin kicked off the “Holiday Season of Giving” campaign with town employees, to raise awareness about the cuts in federal funding for food assistance in conjunction with the current economic conditions that many of those within our community face daily.

Town of Framingham employees, together with Halpin, and along with an anonymous donor from the Framingham Fire Department, raised $5,000 to make a difference in the lives of families in need in Framingham and throughout MetroWest.

Upon presenting the donation to the United Way, Halpin said “I am extraordinarily grateful for the generosity on the part of Framingham employees and thrilled to be making this contribution on their behalf for families in need
and struggling with food security.”

United Way of Tri-County President Paul Mina said, "It warms our heart that Framingham employees see the critical need in the community and are joining together to meet that need. With over 3,000 Framingham neighbors receiving
groceries from our food pantry and hundreds of guests coming for a hot meal at our congregate meal program, it is a blessing that those that can, give back in some way to those that are struggling to make ends meet. We are so grateful for their support."
