Judge: President's Uncle Will Not be Deported to Kenya; Can Stay in Framingham
Judge, who gave asylum to the President's sister, told Onyango Obama: "Welcome to America" after agreeing not to deport him.
A federal immigration judge Tuesday, Dec. 3 allowed President Obama’s uncle, Onyango “Omar” Obama, to remain in the United States instead of being deported back to Kenya.
US Immigration Judge Leonard I. Shapiro said he believed Onyango Obama was a gentleman, a good neighbor, paid his taxes, and met the criteria for legal permanent residency, commonly known as a green card, reported Boston.com

During the hearing, Onyango Obama testified, “I do have a nephew. He’s the president of the United States.”
Onyango Obama, who lives and works in Framingham, was arrested for drunken driving in 2011 in Framingham, where he lived. In March 2012, Obama admitted sufficient facts in that case.

Shapiro is the same immigration judge who approved an asylum request for Onyango Obama’s sister, Zeituni, in 2010, reported Boston.com.
Onyango Obama was fighting to stay here under a federal immigration law that allows permanent residence for illegal aliens who entered the U.S. before 1972.
