Koutoujian Attends Framingham Vigil for Sandy Hook Victims

Middlesex County Sheriff and a candidate for Congress Peter Koutoujian joined Framingham residents to remember the victims of Sandy Hook Elementary, vowing to stand strong against violence to make sure the tragedy in Newtown never happens again.

Saturday night, Middlesex County Sheriff and a candidate for Congress Peter Koutoujian joined Framingham residents to remember the victims of Sandy Hook Elementary, vowing to stand strong against violence to make sure the tragedy in Newtown never happens again.

“What happened at Sandy Hook Elementary was heartbreaking,” said Koutoujian.  “The fact that we lose 56 children per week to gun violence is just as tragic.  We can fix this.  We can ban assault weapons at the federal level.  We can ban high capacity clips.  We can institute universal background checks and increase access to mental health services for those in need.  We can make sure Newtown never happens again.  We need to.”

“Peter attending the vigil tonight was incredibly important, and only the surface of what he does for the anti-gun violence movement,” said Varujian Barsamian of Framingham.  “The first speech he made on the floor of the State Legislature was in support of Massachusetts’ assault weapons ban, and he hasn’t stopped since.  I know that Peter will be more than an ally for gun control in Congress: he’ll be a champion.”
