The way this town meeting went down for this school budget was a perfect case of bad Government. This meeting could have adjourned and the topic taken up again on Thur so more Town Meeting members could have asked some important questions, like myself who wanted to ask: 1. Why are the MCAS scores falling? 2. Who gets free lunches and how does one qualify for free lunches? 3. While most kids pay for busing, athletics etc, WHO don't pay for these services? 4. IF new teaches are going to be hired are they going to hire bi-lingual teaches over just English speaking teaches? Will there be a priority? 5.Is there a cost factor for having the children of Illegal immigrants in our schools compared to not having them? 6. Ned Price asked why does it cost $2700 more dollars per child in Framingham vs the next town over, WHY? 6. A question to legal council about the use of Fuller School when Federal Law is being violated and what are the ramifications if that is true? Can RICO laws be brought against the town? These were just a few things that could have been asked but through backdoor politics never will be answered because the Moderator wanted to rush the school budget through. ( yes, I know School officials may not be at the Thur meeting because of commitments ) Twice he dismissed an order to adjourn, then finally it got to a point where the TMM wanted to move the question so they could vote and go home. Politics at its worse. Joe Rizoli

EDITOR'S NOTE: I apologize - for some reason the rest of the transcript of the school budget will not copy & paste into the box above. I have emailed the Patch Tech department for assistance.
Susan Petroni (Editor) May 17, 2012 at 11:58 AM
One more note: The full transcript from this session of Town Meeting is available still if you click on the Cover it Live grey box. (It is just not searchable on the Framingham Patch site and not available with the Patch mobile app however.)

Haha, which one of you Rizoli's switched your vote for the second time around (after the technical snafu)? One voted yes, the other no the first time around. Both voted no the second time. Its a simple process guys, 1 for yes. 2 for no, 3 for abstain. I love the immediacy of seeing how everyone votes with electronic voting. Finally we have some accountability in Town Meeting.
Joe Rizoli May 17, 2012 at 05:28 PM
Gee Bob nice to see yor watching the Rizoli's voting. I have no interest in how you voted and could care less. Jim made a mistake on the vote obviously. We don't always vote the same though. On the school budget we both voted NO. The process in the discussion was not to my satisfaction. I was proud of that vote. Oh, by the way, the story with the MCAS? I have my reasons why there is a problem, just ask the Canary that's in the cage with the Sparrow.

Hi Joe, You don't need to prolong Town Meeting to get answers to your questions.... 1) MCAS grades are falling because year after year Town Meeting has made significant cuts to the schools. This has already been discussed endlessly. 2) Qualifications for free and reduced lunch is well known and freely available with quick Google search. Basically, it is by federal income guidelines, but rule of thumb is if you qualify for supplemental nutrition program (food stamps) you would qualify for free or reduced lunch. A family of 4 earning less than 41000/year would qualify. 3) Also available with internet search 4) No priority. Same cost. 5) Yes. Cost factor for any student, the same regardless of immigration status of parents. Any student will cost money to teach. 6) He could have just as easily asked why are our taxes lower than Wayland, the very next town over? WHY?? His numbers were off, and his whole logic fuzzy. Natick is a very different town than Framingham, even though they are right next to each other. Framingham is much more of a city, and you know as well as anyone it has unique challenges. No need to hold everyone hostage to more grandstanding by people. If you want more information from anyone, just email them. No need to prolong town meeting.

Sad to say this was one of the worse TM meetings I've ever attended! School budget got a pass from people who had some serious questions and the Town continues to cover up wrongdoing with their ESL being held at Fuller school. Bottom line is........ those who want to get away with criminal activity are able to under the guise of helping people. The town is heading for a disaster with the schools as more illegals will be coming to get their FREE Day care Kindergarten, and the general populace just turns a blind eye to it all. Remember folks 4 schools at DEFCOM 3 just a matter of time until we reach DEFCOM 4. OH, did I mention in the paper today..... Latino births 50.4 just passed WHITES. What that is going to do to the school system will be devastating in the years to come. You think the school budget is high now......Give us 5 years.... Jim@ccfiile.com
John Sullivan May 17, 2012 at 05:53 PM
So Jim was FOR the school budget before he was against it? Classic flip-flopper.
Jim Rizoli May 17, 2012 at 06:08 PM
John.....Any comments to my thoughts above? No....you just like to berate people. Classic Liberal Bully! Jim@ccfiile.com
John Sullivan May 17, 2012 at 06:15 PM
Jim - I see staying up late as caused you to lose your sense of humor. The flip-flop line was a reference to the criticism of John Kerry. In my own head I thought comparing you to the liberal John Kerry was funny, but I didn't mean to offend you. What do you want me to comment on? You are upset about Latino births? You need to step up and start doing your part. Start making some babies!
