Proposed New Congressional District has Framingham Moving from 7th to 5th District

Framingham is currently represented by Congressman Ed Markey as part of the 7th congressional district. The proposed congressional district map has Markey's hometown of Malden and Framingham both now in the 5th district.

The proposed news congressional district, released by the Massachusetts legislature today, Nov. 7, has Markey's hometown of Malden and Framingham now both in the 5th district.

The legislature was asked to redraw the congressional districts for Massachusetts from its current 10 districts to 9, due to a loss of population within the Bay State.

Markey has one of his two Massachusetts congressional offices in Framingham. His office was not available to comment on the proposed new districts today. His other office is in downtown Medford.
