Saxonville Intersection Work Expected to Begin This Week

Construction crews will begin to install construction signage in anticipation of the start of roadway and sidewalk improvements on Mellen and Winthrop streets.

The following is a traffic alert by the Town of Framingham Department of Public Works for week ending July 1:

Annual Road Program – Indian Head Road: The Department of Public Works Highway Division will perform drainage improvements; and remove and reset curbing.  Traffic will be managed through the work zone utilizing a one lane alternation traffic management plan. Use caution while traveling in this area, expect delays while traveling in this area.

Annual Road Program – Potter Road Area: The Department of Public Works Highway Division will remove and reset curbing, sidewalk fine grading and sidewalk paving and including pouring ADA concrete ramps. Traffic will be managed through the work zone utilizing a one lane alternation traffic management plan. Use caution while traveling in this area, expect delays while traveling in this area.

Eaton, Chalis, Nob Hill Roadway Restoration: The Department of Public Works Highway Division will install a hot mix leveler course and perform casting adjustments on Colonial Drive and Murphy Circle. Traffic will be managed through the work zone utilizing a one lane alternation traffic management plan. Use caution while traveling in this area, expect delays while traveling in this area.

Mellen Street & Winthrop Street Roadway and Sidewalk Improvements: Construction crews will begin to install construction signage in anticipation of the start of roadway and sidewalk improvements. Saxonville Intersection Improvements: Construction crews are anticipated to begin the relocation of utility poles in the vicinity of Concord Street, School Street and “A” Street. Traffic will be managed through the work zone utilizing a one lane alternation traffic management plan. Use caution while traveling in this area, expect delays while traveling in this area.

Salem End Road: The Department of Public Works Highway Division will perform surveying work and tree trimming on Salem End Road and the surrounding area between Badger Road  and the Ashland Town line. Traffic will be managed through the work zone utilizing a one lane alternation traffic management plan. Use caution while traveling in this area, expect delays while traveling in this area.

Wickford Road Bridge: The Massachusetts Department of Transportation’s contractor will complete concrete guardrail transitions, perform curb and sidewalk work and weather permitting apply a waterproof membrane to the bridge.  The Wickford Road Bridge will continue to be detoured.  It is anticipated that the bridge will reopen in late July/early August.

Winter Street Bridge over CSX: NSTAR and other utility relocations will continue in the vicinity of the bridge. Traffic will be managed through the work zone utilizing a one lane alternation traffic management plan. Use caution while traveling in this area, expect delays while traveling in this area.

Police detail officers will be on site to assist in the facilitation of traffic flow and to assist with emergency response. Construction activities are scheduled to take place daily (Monday through Friday) between the hours of 7 a.m. and 4 p.m.
