Town Manager: 20-25% of Framingham Without Power

, estimated that 20-25% of Framingham, was still without power. (Nstar, however, estimated less than 2,000 customers or 6.5% of the town was without power.) At 4 p.m. Wednesday, Suso issued this press release update on storm clean-up efforts:

We now approximate that 20-25% of the Town of Framingham is yet without electrical power. We continue to work with NStar in urging their completion of this process and the full restoration of all Town customers.

All previously blocked town roadways have now been returned to vehicle access. 

Two Town signalized intersections remain without power - Temple at Salem End Road and Concord Street at Old Connecticut Path. While these intersections are open to traffic, we ask motorists to exercise caution in these two intersection areas.

Work continues by Framingham Public Safety and Public Service personnel to facilitate the clearing of debris from roadways and any related matters.

 Residents should be aware that the The facility will be open to Framingham residents from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday (Sept. 1-3). The facility will also be open on Sunday, Sept. 4 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and on Labor Day, Monday Sept. 5 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Vehicle permits will NOT be required during this short timeframe. Proof of Framingham residency will be checked and required.

We are pleased to confirm that as a service to residents, will take place. We ask that all brush, branches and limbs damaged and dropped as a result of Tropical Storm Irene be neatly piled curbside no later than Tuesday, Septe. 6. The will make one, single pass through the Town picking up those curbside materials. They will not be able to return to a residence should items not be left out on time. While it is not necessary to tie up this brush and branches, they should be neatly piled at the curb. Be aware that the town’s normal autumn collection of leaves will be planned and scheduled for later this fall. This curbside collection is for natural vegetation only, and not to include food, trash or construction materials. Loose and bagged leaves will also not be included in this pickup but can be disposed of at the during normal operating hours (and as noted above).

Please continue to exercise caution both in walking and driving throughout Town while this cleanup and restoration continues. For all emergencies, residents should continue to contact the police or fire departments through the normal 911 emergency calling system.
