VIDEO: France Bestows Its Highest Medal on Framingham WWII Veteran

The former Army Captain, and Framingham resident, was awarded the Chevalier de la Legion d'Honneur.

Long-time Framingham resident Margaret (Hammond) Walenski, a captain in the U.S. Army in World War II was recently awarded the Chevalier de la Legion d'Honneur medal by France at a ceremony in Westborough.

It is the highest award given by the country of France.

She was a nurse during World War II.
