Warren Sworn Into Senate, Says She'll Work With 'Anyone Who Will Fight for America's Families'

Sen. Elizabeth Warren will hold a Massachusetts swearing-in ceremony today, Jan. 5 in Roxbury.

Democratic Senator Elizabeth Warren, who was sworn in to office on Thursday, told reporters she plans to "work her tail off" and will work with "anyone who will fight for America's families" in Washington D.C.

"I am honored to have the opportunity to serve as your Senator, and I'll never stop fighting for you," she said via Twitter on Thursday morning after she sworn in by Vice President Joe Biden in Washington D.C.

Warren told reporters she was "delighted" by her committee assignments.

"I'm going to be on the Banking Committee which is something I really wanted to do," Warren told Fox25, "And I'm going to be on the HELP Committee which means we deal with health, education, labor, pensions…really the economics of working families."

Sen. Warren will hold a Massachusetts ceremonial swearing-in today at Roxbury Community College at 2 p.m. The event will be an opportunity for constituents who were unable to attend Senator Warren’s official swearing-in ceremony on Thursday in Washington, DC to share the occasion. Supreme Court Justice Elena Kagan will perform the swearing-in ceremony. Doors open at 1 p.m.

Warren said she was "really disappointed" by the fiscal cliff negotiations. 

"Our spending should reflect our values," she said in the interview with Fox25. "The idea that there should be cuts in benefits for seniors and social security in order to fund more tax breaks for billionares and Fortune 500 companies, that's a value judgment, that's not just an economic judgment."
