Did Framingham Make the Right Call to Cancel School?

This morning, we all woke up to wind chill temperatures below zero and about 3 to 4 inches of snow, maximum. Some in North Framingham had only an inch of snow.

Framingham cancelled school just before 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Town Manager Bob Halpin told Selectmen just after 7 p.m. that it was his recommendation to have all town-owned buildings closed until about noon on Wednesday, so DPW crews could do their jobs.

The weather forecasters had been hyping huge snowfall totals - including 6-8  and 8-10 inches for Framingham and Metrowest.

Hanover and the Brockton area got about 18 inches of snow, but we had little snow here.

Framingham High School is in the midst of mid-terms. Typically, students are released by 10:45 a.m. during midterms. A 2-hour delay would have had them starting late and dismissed later, which may have factored into the cancellation.
