Framingham Public Schools were open today.

Originally, the school district voted to give students a 2-week holiday break and not have students return to school until Monday, Jan. 6. (Marian High and St. Bridget students return from their Christmas break on Jan. 6)

But some parents complained, and the district re-vote the school calendar in June, having students return to school on Thursday, Jan. 2.

The main roads were black pavement this morning, when I drove my daughter to her school in Framingham. Some side roads were just tire tracks -- the worst street was the one where my daughter's school is located.

I sent my son to McCarthy, but will be going to get him out early. I did want to enjoy some quite alone time, but I rather have him home safe now and not wait until later when the snow is going to be worse

UPDATE: Framingham Patch heard from a handful of Framingham Public School teachers that the Framingham Public School District will call a snow day on Friday. The official alert is expected to go out this afternoon. LINK: http://framingham.patch.com/groups/schools/p/framingham-will-not-have-school-on-friday

It's suppose to be Framingham Public Schools, not Framingham Public Day Care. Keep your kids safe at home in weather like this.

National Weather Service has Framingham with 3.5 inches of snow as of 4 p.m.
