The VEX Robotics World Championship brings together the top robotics teams around the world.

Framingham High is the only MetroWest area high school to qualify for the World Championship, said Robotics Advisor Peter Erbland.

At the high school level, only 26 teams New England teams, representing 15 high schools, qualified for the world championship. Of these, only nine teams, representing only five high schools, from Massachusetts qualified.

Top teams from more than 400 VEX Robotics competition tournaments held this past year are at the championships. There are more than 300 teams from China, Singapore, Hong Kong, South Korea, Mexico,
Puerto Rico and the United States competing.

In January, The Flyers won the Programming Skills Challenge with their robot's ability to score more points than any other team in one minute.

The win qualified the Flyers for the New England High School Regional VEX Toss Up Championship at Quinsigamond Community College in March.

Framingham High is Team 9421 in the competition.
