Framingham Drama Production Moves on To Semifinals

Framingham High School Drama Company won awards for set design and light and sound design; and individual acting awards were given to John Llewellyn and Katie Russo.

The Framingham High School Drama Company's performance of The Diviners Saturday morning, earned them a spot in the semifinals in the 2014 Massachusetts Educational Theatre Guild's Drama Festival.

The Diviners is a Depression-era play, with a cast of 12 and a crew of 75 students from Framingham High.

Framinmgham High won awards Saturday evening for Set Design and Light and Sound Design.

Individual acting awards were given to John Llewellyn for his performance of Buddy Layman and Katie Russo for her performance of Jennie Mae.

There were 14 preliminary high school host sites with more than 110 high schools competing in the 2014 Drama Festival.

Eight high schools, including Framingham High, competed at Tewksbury High School Saturday with three high schools qualifying for the semifinals. Moving on in Tewksbury besides Framingham High was Melrose and Hudson high schools.

Framingham High will host a semifinal round Saturday, March 15.

The finals are scheduled for March 27-29.

Framingham High has made the finals 9 of the last 11 years, but has not won the state's Drama Festival since 2006.
