Framingham Schools Advertising for a Director of Curriculum & Staff Development

Framingham Public Schools posted a job for the position of Director of curriculum and staff development last week, with a starting date of Nov. 30.

The Director of Curriculum/Staff Development is responsible for coordinating the design, implementation, and assessment of curriculum from early childhood through grade 12 and associated staff development programs, noted the school district's website. 

Lori DiGisi is listed on the Framingham Public Schools website as the current Director of curriculum & professional development.

No salary was posted.

The job posting said that salary and work year as defined by collective bargaining contract between the Framingham School Committee and the Framingham Administrative Association.

The position would report to Framingham Public Schools Director of Educational Operations Sonia Diaz, a new position created by Dr. Scott when he started with the Framingham district.

Qualifications for the director position include a Master's degree or higher, a current and valid Massachusetts DESE certification as Supervisor/Director or Principal or Superintendent and at least five years successful experience as director or supervisor of a system-wide program. 

Responsibilities, listed on the job posting included:

1) Curricular Development and Assessment
a) Works with the Director of Educational Operations for the administration of the Framingham Teachers Association Curriculum Advisory Committee.
b) Develop and recommend system-wide curriculum program plans to the Director of Educational Operations.
c) Through the Director of Educational Operations, communicate curriculum guidelines to staff, principals, department heads, and community.
d) Coordinate curriculum guidelines with Special Education, Bilingual Education, Title I, and other programs.
e) Facilitate the plans developed by the Curriculum Advisory Committee in relation to program accountability and cyclical review process.
f) Has input on all curriculum grants.
g) Develop proposals relating to cross-curriculum topics such as Multi-cultural Education, Computer Assisted Instruction, curriculum integration and assessment/testing in conjunction with the Superintendent.
h) Coordinate and articulate curriculum with the Director of Educational Operations to principals, directors, coordinators, and department heads.
i) Assist the Director of Educational Operations with overseeing district wide data analysis and assessment.

2) Supervision and Management: 
a) Supervise and evaluate assigned personnel.
b) Recommend appropriate additional personnel essential to curriculum delivery.
c) Orient teaching and administrative staff in conjunction with the Director of Human Resources.
d) Develop annual and long-range budget plans for curriculum resources and staff development. 

3) Staff Development
a) Develop an annual and long-range comprehensive staff development program that would include options for in-service presentations (system-wide and school based), early release days, extension courses and summer curriculum writing workshops.
