Hemenway Principal Will "Open and Lead" New King Elementary School

Hemenway Elementary School Principal Lucia Laguarda has been selected by the Framingham School Administration to help open the new STEAM-focused ninth elementary school at the King Administration Building.

Hemenway Elementary School Principal Lucia Laguarda has been selected by the Framingham School Administration to help open the new STEAM-focused King Elementary School at the current King Administration Building.

Laguarda shared the news with parents and staff today in an email:

"I have been asked to help open and lead the new King Elementary School.  This is an amazing opportunity and I will be sure to bring best practices from Hemenway to King as we grow the first STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) program in Framingham," wrote Laguarda.  "In collaboration with Dr. Scott, I’ve asked our assistant principal, Liz Simon, to help with this charge, enabling us to continue to share leadership roles and responsibilities at Hemenway while building the STEAM program together at King."

"The learning and collaboration with STEAM consultants will enlighten our practice and benefit both schools," wrote the principal hired in 2010. "As we move forward we appreciate all of your support as we embark on this project to build a successful STEAM program, while continuing to develop our rich learning environment that is characteristic of Hemenway School’s  growth and success."
