High School Drama Company Production Wins Set and Lighting Design Awards

Framingham High student John Llewellyn won an acting role for his portrayal of Buddy Layman.

Framingham High competed in the finals of the 83rd Annual Massachusetts Educational Theater Guild's state drama festival last week, but did not take home the title Saturday night.

Winners of the METG State Drama Festival were:

  • Joseph Case High School 
  • St. John's Prep 
  • Westford Academy
The Framingham High School Drama Company qualified for the finals for the 10th time in a dozen years.

Framingham High performed The Diviners. The production won METG awards for Set Design and Lighting Design.

And John Llewellyn won an acting role for his portrayal of Buddy Layman.

There were a dozen students in the cast, but more than 70 students involved in the production.

The Diviners centers around Buddy Layman, a boy who suffered brain damage in a drowning incident that killed his mother but has the ability to find water and CC Showers, a former preachers and stranger to the Indiana community where Buddy lives with his father and sister.
