McCarthy Holding Poetry Readings, Book Fair at Barnes & Noble

To raise money for the elementary school's guided reading program, a fundraiser is being held at Barnes & Noble Booksellers today, June 5 and tomorrow, June 6.

is doing a fundraiser book fair today, June 5 and tomorrow, June 6 to raise money for the school's guided reading program, said literacy specialist Deb Bishop.

Students in grades one and five will recite original poems today at 10 a.m. at at . Students in grades 2-3-4 will recite original poems on Wednesday, June 6 at 10 a.m.

During both days, family and friends can support the elementary's reading program by purchasing items (gift cards, magazine subscriptions and video games are not included) and using the attached voucher.

"We really need to buy books for the guided reading room," said Bishop. "This is a good time to purchase for Father's day, teacher gifts."

A percentage of the sales both days, when a voucher is used or McCarthy Elementary is mentioned at the register, will go towards purchasing books for the guided reading program.
