SLIDESHOW: 5th Annual Stapleton Elementary Golden Eagle 5K & Fun Run

The overall race winner was Alexander Lowry with a time of 18:20.61.

Stapleton Elementary School held its 5th Annual Golden Eagle 5K & Fun Run Saturday morning. More than 170 individuals participated.

The overall race winner was Alexander Lowry, with a time of 18:20.61.

Meghan Brown was the top women finished with a time of 22:42.

The event supports the school's physical education department, including field day, sports equipment and a turf field.

The event was the brainchild of Stapleton Elementary physical education teacher Ellen Margiotta. The first year, the Golden Eagle 5K raised more than $3,500 and the school installed a rock climbing wall in the gym.
