SLIDESHOW: Pajamas, Blankets and Books At Dunning Elementary

Dunning Elementary School's Annual Read-A-Thon raises money for the Jimmy Fund.

Everywhere you looked around Duninng Elementary School, you could see students and teachers in pajamas, kids wrapped in sleeping bags and blankets, visitors reading to students, and books, books, and more books last Thursday.

It was the Annual Dunning Read-A-Thon to raise funds for the Jimmy Fund.

Organized by fifth grade teacher, Jae Goodwin, the event brings a calm to the classrooms for the first two hours of the day as kids read silently, parents read to their children, and visiting readers share stories with many of the classrooms, said Principal Kim Taylor.

This year, Framingham Superintendent of Schools Stacy Scott, Assistant Superintendent Mark Prince, District STEM Coordinator Lori DiGisi, District Humanities Coordinator, Susan Gravel, Business Manager Ed Gotgart, Chief Academic Officer Sonia Diaz, Safety Officer Kathy McGrath, Walsh Language Arts Department Head Jodi O'Rourke, Kidsborough Owner Christeen Rowhers and Bilingual Director Gen Grieci joined the read-a-thon.

Even some of the school's staff members visited classrooms as guest readers.
