It was a A Midsummer Day at Walsh Middle School Wednesday, as grade eight students creatively showcased their literary analysis and comprehension of the play A Midsummer Night’s Dream during a Shakespearean festival in the gym.

Lords, ladies, and fairies, chose could choose from a musical playlist, skit, board game, power point, comic book, etc to artistically display their knowledge about the characters, plot and theme.

The students were also required to submit a formal written paper to their English language arts teachers - Daniela Puricelli, Justin Villet, Heather Rowlings and Joe Minihan.

While it has been a tradition at Walsh Middle to have a Shakespeare Festival, this event was modified due to the new rigorous Common Core educational standards for all grade 8 students in Framingham.

The ELA teachers did a tremendous amount of work in planning this event and preparing the students to have successful outcomes in their work and knowledge, said Walsh Vice Principal Beth Herrmann.

All of the Walsh students and staff attended the event, along with many parents and family members of the students.
