SLIDESHOW: Walsh Students' Performance Brings Audience to Tears

Walsh Middle School students performed at the conclusion of the 2013 Prevention Summit Tuesday afternoon at the Sheraton Hotel in Framingham.

The students performed a song from their upcoming December production of Once On This Island, said Donna Wresinski, Framingham Public Schools Fine and Performing Arts Chair.

The students also "sang an original song, specifically written for this event that had people crying at the event," said Wresinski.

Earlier on Tuesday, U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren spoke to attendees of the Massachusetts Citizens for Children conference.

Warren highlighted the sobering findings of three federal reports that confirm the extent and scope of child sexual abuse.

The Prevention Summit focused on prevention sexual abuse in schools and youth-serving organizations.

Warren said "through the efforts of child advocates, survivors, school and youth-serving organization leaders, legislators and funders, we can and will achieve the goal of creating truly safe environments for all our children and teens so they can grow up without the threat or experience of child sexual abuse and its devastating consequences."
