Somerville Assistant Principal Named New Cameron Middle School Vice Principal

The new Cameron Middle School vice principal will start on July 1. He said he is honored to be a part of the "progressive and motivated staff."

“It is with great pleasure that I can report that Mr. Ian Charles has accepted the position as vice principal at Cameron Middle School,” announced Framingham Superintendent of Schools Stacy L. Scott in a press release Monday afternoon.

Upon reflecting on his meeting with Charles, Scott said, “I was impressed by his administrative vision of being part of a school that embraces all students, encourages individualism, and promotes greater academic achievement of all students and staff through continued professional
collaboration.”

Principal Michelle Melick added, “Ian will be an integral part of my leadership team in promoting at all times the Cameron vision of high
expectations for academic success as well as a positive school climate.”

Charles graduated from UMASS Lowell with a Bachelors’ degree in political science and Masters’ degree in curriculum and instruction. He obtained his certificate of advanced graduate studies from Cambridge College
and is completing his doctoral studies in education administration at Northeastern University.

Charles will be leaving Somerville Public Schools where he has been an assistant principal for two years and where he served a five month assistant principal internship.

He has also been a middle school social studies teacher for three years in Cambridge; a high school civics teacher for Orange County for five years; and an adjunct professor at Valencia Community College for five years.

“I am honored to be part of the progressive and motivated staff at Cameron Middle School. I can’t wait to begin my new job on July first,” said Charles.
