Superintendent Announces New Principal For Stapleton Elementary

“I am pleased to announce that the new principal for the Mary E. Stapleton Elementary School is Ms. Amy Bright,”  said Framingham School Superintendent Stacy L. Scott

“Based upon input from the staff, community members, and administrators, I am confident that Ms. Bright has the leadership and curriculum experience and vision to build a community of learners and educators at Stapleton Elementary School,” added Dr. Scott.

When reached for comment, Interim Stapleton Elementary School Principal Kim Taylor reflected, “I welcome Amy as a member to the Leadership team and believe that I will learn as much from Amy as she will from the Framingham team.” 

Due to her husband’s new job in Framingham, Bright is in the process of relocating from Jacksonville, Florida to her native Massachusetts.

Bright holds an undergraduate degree in elementary education from Northeastern University, a Master’s degree in elementary education from the University of North Florida, and another Master’s degree in administration and supervision from the University of Phoenix. Ms. Bright taught sixth 
grade English language arts and math students in Walpole for one year before moving to Florida.

She then taught for a total of six years in the Duval County Public Schools as a Grade 4/5 math and science Teacher (five years) and as an instructional coach (two years). 

Due to her husband’s job, she returned to Massachusetts and taught fourth grade ELL students in Boston Public Schools for one year before relocating once again to Jacksonville. 

Since her return to Florida, she has worked in Duval County Public Schools as a math and instructional coach for two years, Elementary Assistant Principal for two years, and is completing her third year as an Elementary principal.

“I felt an immediate connection when I interviewed with Stapleton Search Committee which was reinforced when I visited the staff, district leaders, and the community last week,” Bright stated. “I look forward to 
becoming a member of the Stapleton community as we all work together to establish a community where every child and staff member excels, “concluded Bright.

Bright will assume her duties after the Fourth of July weekend.

Dunning Elementary principal Kim Taylor has been both Dunning and Stapleton Principal since March, after first-year Stapleton Principal Joseph Smith resigned.

Framingham Patch reported in mid-March Principal Smith was placed on administrative leave. It was noted in that report, that despite money in the school's budget, a vice principal was never hired for the elementary school during the current school year. A vice-principal was hired earlier this spring for Stapleton.
