Superintendent to Meet With Stapleton Parents

Framingham Superintendent of Schools issued letter to Stapleton Elementary parents on Wednesday.

Framingham Superintendent of Schools Stacy Scott will meet with Stapleton Elementary School parents on Friday morning.

He sent a letter to parents about the leadership at their school on Wednesday, March 26, the day after Framingham Patch reported the school's principal was placed on paid administrative leave.

The letter, which Framingham Patch received more than a dozen copies, states:

"First, my humble apology for the lateness of this letter. ... Last week, I was made aware of possible MCAS testing irregularities on the initial day of testing. The first test administered at Stapleton was a one hour untimed test.  Upon notification, Central Administration staff was deployed to Stapleton Elementary to assist Principal Joseph Smith in MCAS administration for the rest of the week," wrote Scott.

Framingham Patch was the first media outlet to report on the MCAS testing problems.

"Although Principal Smith will not be in this week, the work of teaching and learning continues as usual," wrote Scott to parents on Wednesday. "Ellen Vedora, head teacher is in charge this week. She is being supported with personnel from Central Office Administration. Please direct any questions you have to Mark Prince, Assistant Superintendent, or to my staff as needed."

Scott welcomed parents to join him for a tea at the school tomorrow, March 28 at 10 a.m.

"I will be working with my staff to ensure that leadership at Stapleton is supportive and strong for the remainder of the 2014-15 school year. I will keep the Stapleton community at-large informed as I make any adjustments."
