5 Things You Need To Know Today: June 3

Foundation for MetroWest awards $67,400, road construction in Framingham this week, Westford ends Framingham High's tourney run and Sudbury Valley Trustees Executive Director leaving all featured in today's column.

1. Foundation for MetroWest recently announced that 116 middle and high school students in the MetroWest region awarded $67,400 to local nonprofit youth-serving organizations as part of the Foundation for MetroWest Youth in Philanthropy program. Read more here.

2. The U.S. Department of Defense and Framingham VFW Post 929 held a ceremony Sunday at Cushing Memorial Chapel to mark the 60th Commemoration of the Armistice of the Korean War. Consul Eunchul Lee from the Korean Consulate  was one of the guest speakers for the event.

4. Over the weekend, Westford ended the Framingham High girls softball season. The Flyers lost to Westford Academy 2-1 Saturday in the Division 1 North tournament. The Flyers were the Bay State League champs. Congrats on a great season!
